Box

Connecting Box brings your Box account into Ordalie so you can browse, search, and work with your cloud files without leaving your workspace. If you grant write access, Ordalie can also add files and create folders in your Box.

Setting it up

Box is a personal connection, tied to your own Box account rather than to your organization. You can start it in two places. From the workspace left sidebar, the Documents section has a Connect a source button; or you can open your personal Settings and go to the Integrations tab. Both lead to the same window and the same list of connectors.

When you choose Box, Ordalie first asks which level of access to grant. Read Only lets Ordalie browse and read your files, while Read & Write lets it also add files and create folders in your Box. After you pick, a Box sign-in window opens. Sign in with your own Box account and authorize Ordalie; once you do, the window closes and Box appears among your connected sources.

Your Box files are available as soon as the connection is made. You can mention them with @ to bring a file into a conversation, browse your Box folders from the Documents section of the sidebar, and search across your Box content using Ordalie's search.

How it works

Ordalie talks to Box through the Box API. Your access token is stored securely and refreshed automatically, so the connection keeps working without you having to sign in again. Browsing walks the full folder tree one page at a time, and search uses Box's own search, including glob filters when you narrow a query. Ordalie can also go straight to a file or folder by its identifier. When you have granted write access, it can add files and create folders in place.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with Box enterprise accounts? Yes. The sign-in works with both personal and enterprise Box accounts. With some enterprise setups, an administrator may need to allow the app first.

Can I write to Box from Ordalie? Yes, as long as you connected with Read & Write access.

How do I disconnect? Open the Integrations tab in your personal Settings, find your Box connection, and disconnect it. You can also revoke access from your Box connected-apps page.
